American Budokai International

Special Awards

To recognize the achievements and contributions of its members, the American Budokai International, may confer upon deserving individuals any one of the following awards.

  • Certificate of Rank - Presented to both Kyu and Dan rank individuals with each promotion in rank.
     
  • Certificate of Title - Presented to individuals who have by virtue of great efforts and fastidious training have earned a conferance of special title, such as Renshi, Kyoshi or Shihan to name just a few.
     
  • School Affiliate
     
  • Certificate of Kobudo - Presented to students in the study of Ancient Weapons.
     
  • Certificate of Achievement - Given to recognize outstanding students who are below the black belt grade.  May be awarded for the purpose of recognizing progress, some significant act or endeavor, dedication, loyalty and leadership.
     
  • Bushido Award - Presented to individuals, regardless of rank, who have given of themselves outside the dojo.  This special award recognizes outstanding contributions to one's system, school or teacher.
     
  • Pioneer Award - Presented to the head of a nationally recognized martial arts organization who is either 9th or 10th dan.
     
  • Instructor of the Year Award - This award recognizes talented and creative teachers of the martial arts.
     
  • International Instructor of the Year Award - Awarded for the purpose of recognizing those dedicated individuals who have helped to spread the martial arts outside the continental United States.  Recipient must have made at least three such trips in order to be considered.
     
  • Pinnacle - This award recognizes the three highest callings: Warrior, Teacher and Healer.  Recipients must have been recognized competitors, operate or teach regularly at a recognized dojo, and must be licensed to practice a healing art.
     
  • American Budokai International Society Award - This is the "Honor Guard" of American Budokai International.  It is given to those individuals who demonstrate the principles of "rei shiki" or "etiquette from the heart."  Society inductees may be recognized by the insignia worn on their left sleeve over their forearm.
     
  • Superior Leadership Award - This award recognizes outstanding leadership in a specific field.  It is presented to individuals who demonstrate unparalleled leadership traits and who have made significant contributions to their art.
     
  • Enlightened Warrior - This award is presented to individuals who are the most spirited fighters in their art or school and who demonstrate outstanding character and maturity.
     
  • Lifetime Achievement Award - This award is given only to individuals ranking 8th dan or above who have a minimum of 30 years of active training in a given style and who have made significant contributions to the martial arts.
