American Budokai International was founded in March of 2005 by Hanshi Steven Roensch former owner of West Coast Martial Arts Academy in Sarasota, Florida.  ABI was established to provide a prestigious parent organization for various traditional martial arts including Shintoyoshinkai Combat Jiu Jitsu, Okinawan Shuri-ryu Karatedo, Tae Kwon Do, Shorei-ryu, Shorin-ryu, Goju-ryu, Wado-ryu, Danzan-ryu and Shito-ryu to name just a few.

The mission of ABI, which is open to all styles and ranks, is to provide its membership with a prestigious and professionally operated "parent" organization offering traditional martial arts training, experienced leadership, continuing education seminars and grade sanctioning for its kyu and dan members.

In the pages of this website, you can learn everything there is to know about ABI, the styles represented by it, special events and seminars hosted by ABI and the many affiliated dojos that participate in ABI events and maintain the traditional standards of the martial arts and provide training of the highest caliber.

Under the umbrella of the ABI, are two extremely important organizations in martial arts today.  The first organization is the Professional Association of Martial Arts Instructors, which provides continuing education and training to many highly skilled martial arts professionals and educators.

PAMAI, as it is also known, provides educational programs to Dan level instructors, who are continually trying to develop their skills, share their knowledge and improve martial arts education in the United States and around the world.

The second organization under ABI is the American Budokai Society.  This elite society of martial artist serves as the "honor guard" of the ABI.  Its members are extremely dedicated individuals who have made great contributions to the martial arts.  They are individuals of outstanding character, integrity and honor.

Welcome to American Budokai International.
